Abstract
Audit has been proposed as a useful means of implementing and evaluating 'D o Not Resuscitate (DNR)' policies. This paper explores the background to th e introduction of DNR policies and reviews published reports of their use i n clinical practice. Problems with auditing and implementing DNR policies a re highlighted.
