Abstract
A synthetic strategy is disclosed for the introduction of an additiona l conjugate 8(14) double bond into 11 beta-arylsubstituted antiprogest ins of the RU 486 type. Ring B aromatic analogues are obtained as by-p roducts. Both structural variations markedly affect the rotational beh aviour of the 11 beta-phenyl residue. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
