Abstract
The mode mismatched thermal lens technique was used in the determination of thermal diffusivity of oriented lyotropic liquid crystal doped with ferrof luid. It was found that the behavior of the parallel thermal diffusivity as a function of ferrofluid content could not be explained in terms of the or der parameter alone. Additional contribution coming from the ferrofluid its elf seems to be necessary for the interpretation of the experimental data.
