The transmission of light through a layer of cholesteric liquid crystals (C
LCs) encapsulated in a polymer and suspended in water is studied both theor
etically and experimentally. The morphology of the capsules is considered a
longside with spectral dependences of light transmission through a plane-pa
rallel layer of aqueous CLCs dispersions.
