We calibrate the X-ray imaging spectrometers, which are CCD cameras install
ed on the ASTRO-E satellite, by using dispersed continuous soft X-rays from
a grating spectrometer. We obtained the signal-pulse height and energy-res
olution as a function of X-ray energies continuously. However, the wings of
the line spread function of the grating distorts the center of the signal-
pulse height derived by a simple analysis. An estimation of this distortion
is presented. We also describe two methods of extracting the pure signal-p
ulse-height distribution from the data using the spectrometer. A brief desc
ription of the low-energy tail is presented. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
