Congenital pulmonary venous stenosis (CPVS) has been previously described i
n older infants and children, typically manifesting as failure to thrive wi
th congestive heart failure and subsequent respiratory deterioration. We re
port on 2 cases of CPVS wh ich presented during the immediate newborn perio
d as severe persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn. (C) 1999 Wile
