Abstract
This paper describes a three-dimensional measuring technique for red-h ot ingot using a slit-ray projection method. Using an image processing technique, Partial curves of cross-section are extracted from the ima ges of target ingot at various rotating angles. Considering the fluctu ation of the rotating axis caused by the gravity, a curve fitting tech nique is introduced for the reconstruction of the cross-section. In or der to deal with the problem of radiant light from the target ingot, a mercury lamp is used as the slit-ray emitter. Experimental results re veal that the system is applicable and the algorithm is feasible.
