Abstract
Despite the improvements in the pharmacological treatment of acute myocardi al infarction, it is recognised that thrombolysis fails to reproduce reperf usion in a significant proportion of patients. Coronary interventional tech niques have been shown to offer an alternative reperfusion strategy. There is increasing evidence that mechanical reperfusion may offer significant ad vantages over established thrombolytic therapy.
