Abstract
A review of published records and material of the cyclopoid copepod Mesocyc lops edax (S. A. Forbes) established its presence in the drainage basins of the Colorado and Columbia Rivers in the western U.S.A., and verified publi shed records from Cuba, Guatemala, and Mexico. Mesocyclops nicaraguensis He rbst is a junior synonym of M. edax. We provide supplementary morphological observations and describe certain morphological variations observed in som e populations of M. edax.
