A woman who had been operated on previously for a paraspinal hydatid cyst p
resented with claudication of the lower limbs. Computed tomographic and mag
netic resonance images showed multiple cysts in the soft tissues of the bac
k, retroperitoneum, and lumen of the aorta and iliac arteries. Occlusion of
the aorta and iliac arteries by recurrent hydatid cysts after previous sur
gery was confirmed with angiography and subsequent surgical exploration. Th
e authors present the imaging findings of this unusual manifestation of cys
tic echinococcosis.
