Yi. Kharkats, Ionic transport during the reduction of cations involving two parallel electrode reactions and formation of complexes, RUSS J ELEC, 35(9), 1999, pp. 986-991
The problem of parallel reactions of the deposition of metal ions and disch
arge of hydrogen ions from a solution of partly dissociated acid is studied
theoretically. Analytical expressions are deduced for the limiting current
of the discharge of metal cations as a function of the discharge current o
f hydrogen ions and for the distribution of concentrations of the solution
components and of the electrical potential in the diffusion layer. In the s
ystem under consideration, two effects of the intensification of electrodep
osition of metal ions coexist, namely, the correlation exaltation of the mi
gration current and the exaltation of the migration current. The relative r
ole of either effect under different reaction conditions is discussed.
