Abstract
A physical model is proposed to describe the radiation of Rayleigh waves by a fatigue crack which is associated with normal rupture and grows along th e surface of the specimen. A suitable software package is used to study the main laws governing the radiation of acoustic-emission waves by such crack s. A method is proposed for determining the depth of surface cracking.
