Abstract
Na-beta"-gallate/water vapor reactions have been studied via weight gain, X -ray diffraction and electron microscopy. Two hydrates form and their appea rance is kinetically controlled by twofold diffusion. Na-beta"-gallate hydr ates and the dissolution of Na2O leads to hydronium-beta"-galrate. The latt er decomposes irreversibly to Ga2O3 at high temperatures. Structural modifi cations involved in hydration and dehydration are discussed. (C) 1999 Elsev ier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
