A new series of 14-16-membered hexaazamacrocyclic complexes [ML X-1(2)] and
[ML X-2(2)] (M = Co-II, Ni-II, Cu-II and Zn-II; X = Cl or NO3) have been s
ynthesized by template condensation of phenylenediamine, primary diamines a
nd formaldehyde solution 35% in MeOH and have been characterized by i.r., H
-1-n.m.r., e.p.r., and u.v. spectroscopy as well as by magnetic susceptibil
ity and conductivity measurements. An octahedral geometry has been suggeste
d for all the complexes.
