A new peltasperm, Scytophyllum bonettiae sp, nov., is described from the Mi
ddle Triassic Cortaderita Formation, San Juan, Argentina. The new species i
s characterised by having medium to small monopinnate, imparipinnate, lance
olate, bicoherent fronds with a free bipinnate pattern of venation, and lum
ps on the rachis. Recovered specimens display juvenile to adult foliage. Th
e new taxon, together with other species, characterises late Middle Triassi
c-early Upper Triassic terrestrial flora from western Argentina.
