Lower size limit of aquatic mammals

Warm blooded aquatic mammals require a minimum diameter of about 15 cm in o rder to survive in cold oceans. This follows from the thermal balance and t he diameter-to-length aspect ratio D/L approximate to 1/4 of minimum drag, which is characteristic for fast swimming animals.
