Laparoscopic cholecystotomy (LCT) with primary closure of the gallbladder i
s a treatment option for patients with symptomatic cholecystolithiasis in a
well-functioning gallbladder. In contrast to other gallbladder-preserving
minimally invasive or interventional methods, LCT is a one-session procedur
e avoiding the need for post-operative drainage of the gallbladder by a bal
loon catheter. LCT does not cause functional disturbances or severe bile du
ct injury, as is observed after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
