Abstract
Carboxylato-bridged Ru(I) carbonyl complexes are activated by CO towards bo th disproportionation and reaction with dihydrogen, through the intermediac y of the unbridged metal-metal bonded valence isomers (OC)(5)RuRu(CO)(3)- ( OCOCR3)(2) and [Ru(CO)(4)(OCOCR3)](2).
