Electron cryo-microscopy has yielded a wealth of detailed new information o
n structures of biological macromolecules ranging from alpha beta-tubulin a
t 3.7 Angstrom resolution to hepatitis B virus at 7.4 Angstrom resolution,
as well as a number of membrane proteins at 6-8 Angstrom resolution. Much o
f this progress was made possible by recent advances in instrumentation and
image processing techniques.
