Abstract
This paper describes calculations of the global production rates of the ene rgetic neutral atoms (ENAs) in the magnetosphere and their association with the Dst index on the basis of quantitative numerical simulations. We simul ate an idealized moderate storm and calculate the total ENA production rate s with energies between 3.8 and 160.4 keV. For energies less than 30 keV, t he production rates are approximately proportional to Dst for both the stor m main and the recovery phases. For energies greater than 30 keV, the total production rates do not show any clear correlation with Dst and demonstrat e oscillations with the corresponding drift period and beatings.
