A rapid capillary zone electrophoresis method was developed for the de
termination of melittin during its purification from bee venom by colu
mn chromatography. Low-pH buffer was selected to decrease the adsorpti
on of the analytes on capillary wall. The average relative standard de
viations of the migration time of melittin and of the peak area were 1
.2 and 2.3%, respectively.
