Silica-anchored alkyl zirconium complexes [Zr]s-R (R = cyclooctyl, Pr
or Me) have been generated by reaction of [Zr]s-H complexes with the r
elevant alkanes. Their stoichiometric reactivity towards molecules suc
h as carbon monoxide and olefins was studied in order to estimate the
potential of such systems to activate and functionalize alkanes cataly
tically.
