A significant paradigm shift is occurring in the delivery of health and hum
an services in the United States. Services are changing from single-profess
ion, single-setting, office-based practice to school/community-based and -l
inked, consumer-centered, interagency services. The nature of the client, t
he role of the service providers, and the location of the setting are impor
tant elements in these changes. Although the new paradigm has many attracti
ve features, a number of issues must be resolved to ensure its success.
