G. Telman et al., Monitoring of the extracranial and intracranial course of single emboli ofcardiac origin: A preliminary report, J NEUROIMAG, 9(4), 1999, pp. 238-240
Simultaneous monitoring of emboli in extracranial and intracranial arteries
recorded with identical probes, in a patient with an artificial cardiac va
lve, allowed the identification and characterization of pairs of signals, w
hich most likely represent single emboli flowing through the common carotid
artery into the middle cerebral artery. This technique offers new insights
into emboligenesis with obvious therapeutic implications.
