Abstract
A premature infant exposed to carbamazepine in utero had a markedly undersi zed brain on cranial ultrasonogram. Postmortem examination of the brain rev ealed no evidence of hypoxic-ischemic injury, hemorrhage, infarction, conge nital infection, or calcification. The normal cortical gyral pattern, norma l residual germinal matrix, and normal cortical lamination suggested the di agnosis of a radial microbrain form of micrencephaly.
