Abstract
Curculigo orchioides Gaertn is an important medicinal plant of commercial v alue. A protocol for indirect regeneration from the leaf explants was devel oped. The leaf explants on MS (Murashige & Skoog) basal medium fortified wi th 6-benzylaminopurine (9 mu M) gave rise to proliferating green callus. Th e calli regenerated shoots on subculturing in the MS medium with 1.1 mu M 6 -benzylaminopurine which was the optimum concentration for multiplication. Rooting was observed in MS medium supplemented with alpha-napthaleneacetic acid (5.3 mu M), indole-3-butyric acid(1.2 mu M), and on MS basal medium fr ee of plant growth regulators. The rooted plants were hardened and transfer red to field with 80% survival.
