Abstract
A directionally solidified sample of superalloy CMSX-4 was investigated to show the effect of crystal orientation on the segregation distribution. The solute distribution of alloying elements across a dendritic cell was measu red. Due to the preferred crystal growth in < 100 > orientation the segrega tion profiles in this direction is much flatter than that in <110 > orienta tion. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A.
