Abstract
A 2.4-inch SXGA driver-integrated low-temperature poly-Si TFT-LCD (Thin Fil m Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) light valve was developed for low-cost multimedia projectors. A driver circuit combination of hi-directional shif t registers and decoders provides the projector with multi-scan, zoom, and image-reversing functions. In order to improve the uniformity of TFT charac teristics, we used an excimer-laser (line beam) annealing method with a cap ping layer of SiO2. An organic planarization layer was used for suppressing the liquid-crystal reverse-tilt domain in the high-density (686 dpi) pixel and the integrated black-matrix layout was designed for hiding the liquid- crystal disclination lines in the dot-inversion driving.
