Abstract
A focal plane detector has been constructed for detecting fusion residues i n a gas-filled Enge split-pole spectrograph. It provides position, timing a nd energy for particle identification. With a timing channel plate detector in the target chamber, the particle time-of-flight can be measured. This d etector system is particularly suitable for studying fusion-evaporation rea ctions in inverse kinematics. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights res erved.
