Abstract
A reticle for the verification of the correct operation of the phase Dopple r particle analyzer (PDPA) is presented. As an alternative to common calibr ation devices such as a droplet generator or reticles, we introduce a new r eticle that consists of a single polymer microlens affixed to a glass subst rate. The microlens reticle, when placed in the measurement Volume of the P DPA, scatters light in a manner similar to that of a droplet. We report on results from tests performed using three microlens reticles of the same dia meter and two models of the PDPA. (C) 1999 Society of Photo-Optical Instrum entation Engineers.
