Abstract
A method for predicting the hysteretic equilibrium temperature increase in rubber components using finite element analysis is described. It is based o n two different analysis types: non-linear stress analysis and thermal anal ysis. An additional calculation is required between the two analyses for co nverting element elastic strain energies into hysteretic heat generation ra tes per unit volume. A scheme for the entire finite element analysis proced ure and the material prerequisites are given, together with an experimental verification of the method.
