Molybdenum(IV, V) thiolate and selenolate complex with four long bundling h
ydrocarbon chains connected to the amide group, (Ph4P)[(MoO)-O-V{S-2-CH3(CH
2)(10)CONHC6H4}(4)] and (NEt4)(2)[(MoO)-O-IV{Se-2-CH3(CH2)(10)CONHC6H4}(4)]
were synthesized. The four chains are oriented toward the same direction i
n the solution as established by H-1 NMR. These complexes were soluble in a
n aqueous micellar solution and stabilized against hydrolysis in such aqueo
us media efficiently by the hydrocarbon chains. The preliminary results of
X-ray analysis revealed the individual molecular assembly behavior which de
pends significantly on the oxidation slate of metal ion and the kind of coo
rdinated atom.
