SYNTHESIS AND REACTIVITY IN INORGANIC AND METAL-ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
Cu(II) complexes of diethyl 2,3-dioxopentanedioate-2-arylhydrazone derivati
ves have been prepared electrochemically. Their ligational behaviour has be
en studied using elemental analyses, IR and electronic spectra, magnetic mo
ments and thermogravimetric studies. This work revealed that the structure
of the synthesized complexes and their spectral behavior depend, to some ex
tent, on the type and nature of substituents on each ligand. The arylhydraz
ones under investigation act as alpha-arylhydrazone eater as well as beta-k
eto eater. Electronic spectra suggest a square-planar structure of the comp
lexes.
