Abstract
The photolytic reactions of 1,3-butadiene epoxide with organomercurials gav e the substituted unsaturated alcohol and aldehyde as the major products in moderate yields. The substituted unsaturated alcohol was the major product in the absence of DABCO. However, the reactions gave the substituted unsat urated aldehyde as a major product in the presence of DABCO.
