Abstract
1,3,4,6-tetrathiapentalene-2,5-dione (1) reacts in a Wittig-type fashi on with aromatic/aliphatic aldehydes 2a - h upon heating in neat triet hyl phosphite to bis-substituted tetrathiapentalenes (3a - h), which c an be oligo-/polymerized oxidatively to give vinylogous TTF derivative s or highly conducting,polymeric solids (sigma(RT) = 1 S/cm), respecti vely.
