A suite of computer programs is described, which was developed for the diag
nosis of visual deficits. The program "PeriMa" examines visual field defect
s with above threshold static perimetry. "PeriForm" examines the patient's
ability to recognize simple forms in different areas of the visual field. T
he "PeriFarb" program assesses discrimination of broad color squares in the
visual field. When only a hemifield or a quadrant is of interest, that fie
ld can be shifted by using an appropriate eccentric fixation point. All pro
grams allow the use of different levels of stimulus and background luminanc
e, in the range given by the monitor. Correct fixation is ascertained by ha
ving a fixation point that changes its color, and instructing the patient t
o press a key upon change. A first set of normative data was obtained from
a group of 19 healthy subjects and 27 patients with visual deficits.
