M. Machida et al., Influence of hydrogen partial pressure on hydrodenitrogenation of pyridine, aniline and quinoline, APP CATAL A, 187(1), 1999, pp. L73-L78
Influence of hydrogen partial pressure on hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) of pyr
idine, aniline and quinoline was examined over Ni-Mo-P/alumina catalyst. Py
ridine, aniline and quinoline are representative nitrogen compounds found i
n coal-derived Liquids. HDN of aniline was more enhanced by increasing hydr
ogen partial pressure than HDN of pyridine. The greater the adsorption stre
ngth of nitrogen compounds onto catalyst surface, the lesser is the effect
of partial pressure of hydrogen. When the hydrogen partial pressure increas
ed, quinoline HDN improved further with hydrogen sulfide than without hydro
gen sulfide. The differences in the influence of hydrogen partial pressure
on the quinoline HDN reactions were also interpreted in terms of the differ
ences in the adsorption strengths of nitrogen compounds produced in HDN rea
ctions onto catalysts. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
