We present GRANAT/SIGMA observations of the soft gamma-ray afterglow immedi
ately after the bright GRB 920723. After similar to 6s, the burst light cur
ve makes a smooth transition into an afterglow where flux decays as t(-0.7)
for at least similar to 1000 s. At least similar to 20% of main burst ener
gy is emitted in the afterglow. The hardness of the afterglow spectrum corr
esponds to the power law spectral index approximate to 1, which is signific
antly softer than the main burst.
