The galaxies observed within the error boxes of gamma-ray bursts are incons
istent with the host galaxies predicted by the simplest "minimal" cosmologi
cal model where bursts emit similar to 6 10(50) ergs but are consistent wit
h a standard candle energy of similar to 10(53) ergs (if radiated isotropic
ally). Although these calculations utilize the host galaxy data but not the
burst intensities, we have developed the methodology to use all the availa
ble observations to model the redshift and intensity distributions.
