B. Vollmerhaus et al., ON THE REGIONAL LYMPH-NODES OF THE MAMMAR Y-GLAND IN THE DOMESTIC CAT- A SUMMARIZING STUDY, Kleintierpraxis, 42(3), 1997, pp. 221
The regional lymph nodes of the mammary gland in domestic cat are pres
ented in a survey. The lymphatic drainage of each mammary complex is c
oordinated specifically to their group of lymph nodes. The reference t
o the potential palpability of lymph nodes may be helpful in anamnesis
of mammary tumours and other diseases of the mammary gland in cat. In
case of mastectomy not only the axillary lymph node (Ln. axillaris pr
oprius) and the superficial inguinal lymph node (Ln. inguinalis superf
icialis) but also the accessory axillary lymph nodes (Ln. axillares ac
cessorii) and the caudal epigastric lymph nodes (Ln. epigastrici cauda
les) must be removed.
