Abstract
The mathematical description of chemical reactions is always based on exper imental data. However, theoretical considerations usually influence the for m of the equations. In the following paper, the authors show how the kineti cs of hydrocarbon oxidation may be described in terms of mathematical equat ions. The advantages of rather simple and more elaborate models are compare d and discussed.
