Abstract
A brief review of germanate-based zeolitelike structures is given. The fram eworks of new germanates containing cubic Ge8O20 clusters are analyzed in d etail and compared with those of related silicates. It is shown that some t opologies are suitable far silicates, but not for germanates; that others a re suitable for germanates but not for silicates; and that a third class is suitable for both types of material.
