The dependence of the stability of nonaqueous kaolin and zinc oxide suspens
ions containing an acidic stabilizer on the acid-base properties of its com
ponents was found. It was shown that when steric stabilization prevails, th
ere is a direct correlation between the stability of low-concentrated syste
ms and acid-base interaction at the particle-polymer and particle-solvent i
nterfaces. The influence of acid-base properties of the components on dispe
rsion stability was less pronounced in the concentrated dispersions.
