Abstract
The mechanisms responsible for the anomalous adhesive behaviour of EPDM ela stomer have been elucidated by studying the interfacial strength of two EPD M networks. An extremely slow diffusion could be observed and was attribute d to the presence of the branching of EPDM macromolecules associated with a high degree of entanglements. It was shown that diffusion is an essential preliminary step to obtain good interfacial co-crosslinking and hence high final adhesive strength.
