Abstract
During the first stage of the slow drying of a liquid within a bead pack, c apillary liquid transfers dominate and are governed by the pore size distri bution. Deep layers made of coarse grains can be invaded first by air and t he drying rate is controlled by the characteristics of the layers close to the free surface.
