C. Debiez et A. Dervieux, Mixed-element-volume MUSCL methods with weak viscosity for steady and unsteady flow calculations, COMPUT FLU, 29(1), 2000, pp. 89-118
One of the most desirable approximation property in compressible flow simul
ation is the avoidance of superfluous numerical spurious diffusion. We prop
ose to reach this goal on unstructured meshes by the application of sophist
icated upwind finite volume schemes involving sixth-order viscosity. The re
sult is a family of second-order accurate schemes which exhibits much less
diffusion than usual upwind finite volumes when applied to steady and unste
ady flow simulations. The new schemes allow to compute accurately a difficu
lt application such as a vortex-acoustic coupling in a rocket chamber. (C)
