Abstract
This review presents a historical perspective of Fe-S cluster biochemistry, ranging from the first identification of the Fe-S core, through the elucid ation of their biological diversity of structure and function, to more rece nt considerations of the pathways of assembly and disassembly. The latter i n particular is discussed in the context of biological utility in the regul ation of generic information, (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights res erved.
