Excess molar volumes of binary mixtures of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene (t
etralin) with benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, n-propylbenzene, iso-propylbe
nzene, n-butylbenzene, tert-butylbenzene, and sec-butylbenzene over the who
le mole fraction range were measured with a continuous dilution dilatometer
. All the experimental values, except that of benzene system, are negative.
Flory theory and its extended form, the two-parameter method, were used to
describe the volumetric properties. Theoretical prediction of volumetric p
roperties is discussed in terms of the efficiency of the segmental contact
sites. It is concluded that the two-parameter method can improve greatly th
e theoretical results. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
