Abstract
After recent reports in 1997/98, the low-temperature enhancement of enantio selectivity of the lipase-catalyzed acylations in organic solvents, emerges as a new lab-scale methodology in biocatalysis. The examples of effective production of enantiomerically pure compounds (EPC) at low temperatures, ei ther by kinetic resolution of racemates or by desymmetrization of prochiral substrates, are reviewed.
