Abstract
This paper describes the design of a single-turn write head, where the stan dard coil is replaced with a microstrip transmission line. The frequency an d transient response of this head are expected to be superior to current hi gh-speed write heads, and the head power dissipation is also expected to be much lower at high frequencies due to greatly reduced inductance.
